VeTSS PhD thesis award for doctoral dissertation in Program Analysis, Testing, and Verification.

The VeTSS PhD thesis award aims to recognise the author of an outstanding doctoral dissertation in Program Analysis, Testing, and Verification. The annual award includes a £1,000 prize / honorarium, a certificate, which is presented at VeTSS annual meeting in London and financial support for the recipient to attend the meeting to receive the award. A public citation for the award dissertation will also be placed on the VeTSS website.

Eligibility:

Only theses formally accepted at a UK university are eligible for nomination for the award. We are currently accepting nominations for theses submitted in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Please note that a dissertation can be nominated only once. If your thesis falls in two award years, you need to choose one. We plan to award a prize for each of the years on this nomination period.

Nominations:

Nominations should be submitted by the supervisor or co supervisor. If there is a reason why a nomination can not be submitted by the supervisors, let us know. Please submit a single pdf file containing:

  • Dissertation title: (including any subtitle).
  • Full name and affiliation of the student.
  • Abstract and link to download the dissertation.
  • A short description of why the nominee’s dissertation should receive this award (150-350 words).
  • Details of the award, (full name and affiliation of the supervisor, date the PhD was submitted, date of the PhD viva, date of corrections approved / PhD certificate).

Selection process:

The award committee will consider the significance and contribution of the dissertation, including the originality of the research work, methodological soundness and awareness of existing research, possible impact, the clarity and skill of the written work and any other relevant factors.

The decision of the award committee will be final, and the committee shall have the option to decline to make an award in a given year, if no suitable nominations are presented.
